~ Valentine Giveaway!

I had full intentions of hosting a giveaway for my 1 year anniversary here, however, the assault happened about that time then the move, etc. I reached 100 followers too and that made me so excited! Now I know those of you that have hundreds or thousands following prolly just laughed out loud at that statement. I don't have a lot of DIY things to share...although that will be changing...haven't traveled a lot in the past year or shared in tablescaping so I am thrilled that folks still stop by. I realize time is a valuable commodity so if you take a few moments to drop by, please know that it is immensely appreciated! So...in honor of a 1 year blogaversary, 100+ followers and Valentine's Day let's get this show on the road! :-)

I'm not a "pink" person at all...love me some RED!  I do know that there are many that adore anything to do with pink, including my daughter, so this is for YOU! 

I saw these plates and immediately fell in love with them ~ yes, I did! They remind me of spring, love, "happy" and serving something yummy to good friends & family.  I've added a few other items to the mix and will definitely add a few others before the package is mailed to the lucky winner. There are 2 tea towels, chocolate covered cranberries, Tazo Rest tea and Pomegranite soap at the moment.

~ Today is 1-11-11 ~

I love the synchronicity of these numbers!  I often look at the clock and see that it is 11:11 or 1:11....even 4:44.  I call this "angel time" ~ a time when I know at least one angel is with me. I think they surround us ALL the time but for some reason, these special times are just that ~ "special".  Perhaps it's something we're supposed to notice or appreciate at that particular moment...who knows? Now, before you think I'm bonkers, there really is a theory 'out there' about this. I just can't find the online resource right now. In fact, I'm getting more nauseous from this migraine I've had all day so will be getting off the computer shortly.  No, it's not the migraine causing me to hallucinate either!  :-) 

I hope you're having a wonderful week and staying warm. We have sunshine today but it is bitterly cold. My thoughts and prayers are for those in the midst of these snow and ice storms ~ not good for those that must be out in it. I always worry about animals too...especially pets that live outside.  :-(

~ Projects for Me! ~

I know some of you are extremely talented at redoing furniture....me, not at all. I have been perusing blogs and trying to glean all the info I can before beginning these redo's. This is a buffet that I got at an antique store. It is basically a good piece...strong bones but needs attention. I will either paint it black or red ~ that I haven't decided yet. Forgive the "decor" ~ but it's the real thing right now. I have odds & ends sitting on the top, including all the magazines I haven't had time to read. :-)

 Poor pitiful top.  This is really the worst damage on the entire piece.

This is a table I found at a consignment store ~ $12 I think. It's in pretty good shape too. Not sure what the color will be but I'm leaning toward black.

I'm excited at the prospect of redoing these pieces! I also welcome any and all suggestions as to the "how".  Don't be shy...just give me the low-down, ok? :-)

~ Making Progress! ~

I am so happy to report that I'm making progress!  They replaced the pad and carpeting yesterday that was damaged by the water last week. Now I can return to organizing that closet and bedroom. It feels so good to have a semblance of order. My knees are still very painful but it isn't consistent ~ at least not the last couple of days. It's a challenge to sleep at night but so far, so good. Of course, I didn't have any decorations out for Christmas...except a glass vase with red balls in it. I saw them somewhere along the way and added that to my kitchen counter.

My hands and nails are so dry...and really scary looking! :-)  I'm going for a mani/pedi tomorrow and can't wait.  LOVE doing that ~ love feeling pampered!  I have a few things to return so plan to do that while I'm out and about.

I am making an effort to visit everyone's blogs and catch up...I've really missed feeling in touch. Hope that your world is bright, fun and blessed!

~ Happy New Year! ~

Don't you just love today's date?  1-1-11  :-)   I went to a gathering at dear friends' home last night. We played cards, ate, laughed, talked, ate, more cards, photos, ate some more and had a champagne toast at midnight. So much fun!  Not much drinking at all and that's always a good thing when folks are celebrating and then have to drive home. You think it's our age??  We are a really fun group but no drinking & driving at all...if you choose to have a couple of drinks then you must have a designated driver to go home.  It was so much fun!

What are your plans for the new year? I really don't make resolutions anymore...too much pressure. When I don't fulfill them, then the guilt sets in and I tend to beat myself up so no more of that. I have some goals and some things I want to do differently and better. I want to get back to a regular walking schedule once my knees are better. I plan to eat healthy & fresh foods ~ cut out all the snacking, etc.  It's been fun but hey, enough is enough right?  :-)  I have this place to get in order, books I want to read, continue with my Bible Study group, volunteer somewhere that is undecided at the moment and live life daily...away from the computer more. I love, love reading & responding to blogs ~ so many wonderful friends and interesting lives to peek in on. I do want to  limit my computer time though...I think that's a good thing.

My heart goes out to Edie and her family. My brother & sister-in-law had a fire in their home a few years ago and a dear friend lost everything when her family's home burned. Thankfully, no one was injured or worse.  It does change your focus though and in a good way. "Things" are not as important but family members and pets are. It's difficult to lose photos and special mementoes but all the other "stuff" can be replaced if they decide to. Please join me in prayer for Edie and her family ~ for comfort, peace, and protection; for their hearts and minds to heal and for God and His angels to watch over them.
